The B&W 684 S2 were annouced by B&W in February 2014 as the replacement for the B&W 684 speakers. Featuring an improved tweeter along with other design refinements the overall sound is an improvement. It's not a massive uplift, but it's a nice refresh of the 600 Series range, and a timely one too as the old series was beginning to show its 6 years of age.
There's been some changes to the look and feel as part of this update and we prefer them. The changes are subtle but they give a less boxy feel to the look of the speakers, and they've also rolled the ever popular white finish out over the entire range.
This particular speaker is one of two floorstanders - the larger 683's have dual dedicated bass units whereas this speaker has dual mid range drive units. Interestingly we actually prefer the overall sound on this speaker. The mid and treble are slightly clearer and - most importantly - the bass can always be supplemented by using a subwoofer, meaning you'll actually get a twin mid range system from this speaker.
They are still capable of filling a medium sized room with bass if used on their own. Larger rooms can vary depending on speaker positioning and the actual size of the room, but you'd still find the majority of rooms are filled without issue.
We do like these speakers and we're sure you will too. Why not get in touch with us to ensure you get the very best deal on them?
